Professional football club Real Madrid, recently visited the Philippines for “Goooal! Football Clinic,” a two-week football camp for kids. Led by Real Madrid coaches Mario Escuer and Dani Burulanda, the football camp helps kids improve their playing skills and and techniques. Included in the Manila leg was a day at SPARTA, Sports and Recreational Training Arena–Manila’s newest indoor FIFA 1-Star football field.

In an interview conducted by CNN Philippines, Mario Escuer, Senior Coach of the Real Madrid Youth Team, expressed their happiness about the camp and how impressed they were at SPARTA’s indoor world-class football field. Measuring 50 meters long and 25 meters wide, the football field has a unique 15 x 9.5 meters penalty box. With artificial turf installed by E-Sports International, the seven-a-side pitch features Limonta Sport Infinity 40mm turf constructed using special fibers designed for durability and impact resistance. An Italian manufacturer of highest quality sports and leisure artificial turf, Limonta is a FIFA preferred producer with numerous premier installations worldwide.

During the camp, the kids enjoyed an improved gaming experience on artificial turf, and learned new techniques from the acclaimed international team. Several children participated during the morning sessions, while underprivileged kids learned the basics of football in the afternoon. Real Madrid collaborated with a total of 21 Filipino coaches, contributing their knowledge and insight to the camp. SPARTA owner Amanda Fernandez said in her CNN interview that she is optimistic that there will be more future sessions with the Real Madrid coaches and considers this summer camp a privilege.

The Goooal! Football Clinic is a project of the NGO Fundacion Santiago, in partnership with Fundacion Real Madrid. It raises funds for Fundacion Santiago’s Volun2rism program and the Real Madrid Foundation Sports School in Batangas and Negros Occidental.

The summer football clinic with Real Madrid youth coaches will run from April 19 to 24 in Manila, with the latter part of the clinic in Negros Occidental from April 27 to May 1.
