Manila’s latest and most modern indoor football field is now open to serve professional athletes and sports enthusiasts. Football player and GAMEPLAN host Amanda Fernandez created SPARTA (Sports and Recreational Training Arena), a facility designed to be a one-stop sports, lifestyle and wellness center.

As an athlete and manager of the women’s football team SIKAT FC, Fernandez’ prioritized quality and world-class standards. SPARTA features the first ever FIFA 1-star soccer pitch in the country. For the artificial turf pitch, Fernandez chose E-Sports’ Limonta Infinity 40mm. An Italian company, Limonta is a FIFA Preferred Producer that has installations on top football clubs such as AC Milan and Villareal FC.

Giving importance to durability and exceptional performance, the artificial turf of SPARTA features 12,100 dtex yarn that is softer and more comfortable than regular fibrillated yarns. Designed for small-sized fields that experience more wear than full-sized fields, the Infinity 40mm is made of a special fiber with unique durability and resistance quality. It has net-shaped strips to improve ball roll and playability, imported infill from Spain, and two-toned green fibers that makes the field look more natural and visually appealing. The field can also accommodate other sports such as Flag Football and Ultimate Frisbee.

With a playing area of 50 meters long and 25 meters wide, a game of seven-a-side can be played with comfort, safety, and ease. The football field of SPARTA also offers a unique penalty area—unlike semi-circles in regular football fields, SPARTA has a penalty box that measures 15 x 9.5 meters. There is one set of big goal frames at 190 cm tall and 500 cm wide. For ventilation, windows are located on both sides with additional caged LED ceiling lights and four exhaust fans.

Other amenities at SPARTA include a fitness gym and an air-conditioned room with big glass windows with views of the field. Future plans of further developing SPARTA include getting smaller frames that would be more suitable for younger football players, conversion of another area into a volleyball court, and venues for dance classes, yoga, zumba, karate, capoeira, and ballet fitness.

Located on the second floor of a converted warehouse along Pioneer Street in Mandaluyong City, SPARTA is accessible to anyone especially athletes and fitness enthusiasts from Quezon City, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong, and Makati City. Reservations can be made through their website: Sparta.ph.

In addition to SPARTA, the other pitches that feature E-Sports’ Limonta artificial turf are Emperador Stadium, crowd favorite Turf BGC, and the Rizal Memorial Stadium which was recently awarded the FIFA 2-Star certification making it an accredited venue for top UEFA and FIFA final round competitions, including the World Cup.
